What Is a Pipe Clamp?
A pipe clamp is a clamping device used to fasten, route and support pipes, tubes and hoses along a wall, frame, skid or machine structure.
It holds the line firmly in a fixed position while it carries fluid, gas or hydraulic pressure.
A standard pipe clamp is built from a few simple parts: two clamping jaws (also called clamp halves or shells) that close around the pipe, a weld plate or mounting plate that fixes the assembly to the structure, and a cover plate held down by a hex bolt. When the bolt is tightened, the jaws grip the pipe evenly around its full circumference.
The real job of a pipe clamp is not just holding, it is damping. In hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fluid moving at high pressure makes pipes pulse, shake and resonate.
A well-engineered clamp absorbs that vibration, reduces noise, prevents the pipe from rubbing or fretting against other surfaces, and stops fatigue cracking at fittings and weld joints.
This is why pipe clamps are treated as a safety and reliability component, not just an accessory.
Bu-Lok Pipe Clamps at a Glance
Bu-Lok manufactures a complete range of hydraulic and industrial pipe clamps engineered to DIN 3015 — the German standard that defines the dimensions and performance of pipe support clamps worldwide. Our clamps are direct, fit-for-fit equivalents to STAUFF, Parker and Swagelok clamps, so engineers can replace imported clamps without redesigning their pipe layout.

Types of Pipe Clamps We Manufacture
Bu-Lok produces every major clamp series so a single supplier can cover a complete piping or hydraulic project.
Clamp Types | Where It Is Used? |
Light series (standard duty) | General hydraulic and instrumentation lines up to 76.1 mm OD; low-to-medium pressure routing. |
Heavy series (heavy duty) | High-pressure hydraulic systems, heavy machinery and large-bore pipes up to 219 mm OD. |
Twin / double-hole clamps | Two parallel lines secured in one clamp body to save panel space. |
Polypropylene (PP) clamps | Chemical resistance and economy for most general piping. |
Polyamide (PA / nylon) clamps | Higher temperature and impact strength for demanding plant environments. |
Aluminium clamps | Fire-safe, conductive applications where plastic is not permitted. |
Multilayer / stacking clamps | Multiple pipe rows mounted vertically on a single rail using stacking bolts and plates. |
Cushion clamps / P-clips | Rubber-lined clamps for hoses, cables and thin-wall tubes. |
Mounting rail & DIN rail channels | Weld-free, bolt-on rail systems for fast, repeatable clamp installation. |
Whether your drawing calls for a single green PP clamp or a stacked heavy-series rail assembly carrying eight high-pressure lines, every part is dimensionally interchangeable across the Bu-Lok range.
DIN 3015 Standard Explained: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3
Most quality pipe clamps are built to DIN 3015, and the standard is split into three parts. Knowing which part you need is the fastest way to specify the correct clamp.
- DIN 3015 Part 1 — Standard (Light) Series: The most widely used clamp for general hydraulic, lubrication and instrumentation lines. It handles everyday pressure and vibration in a compact, economical body.
- DIN 3015 Part 2 — Heavy Series: A reinforced clamp for high-pressure systems, large pipe diameters and heavy mechanical loads. It uses thicker jaws and larger bolts to resist pressure surge and impact.
- DIN 3015 Part 3 — Twin Series: A space-saving clamp that holds two pipes in a single body, ideal for tightly packed manifolds, mobile equipment and skid-mounted units.
Bu-Lok manufactures all three parts to original DIN tolerances, so our clamps drop straight into existing DIN-rated layouts and rail channels.
About Materials: Choosing the Right Clamp Body
The clamp body material decides how the clamp performs against temperature, chemicals, fire and load. Bu-Lok offers three engineered options:
Polypropylene (PP) is the default choice for most piping. It resists a wide range of oils, fuels and chemicals, dampens vibration well and offers the best value for high-volume projects. Identified by its green colour.
Polyamide (PA / Nylon) handles higher temperatures, higher mechanical stress and abrasive or impact-heavy environments. It is the preferred body for tough industrial and mobile-machinery duty. Identified by its black colour.
Aluminium is specified where a non-combustible, electrically conductive or high-temperature clamp is mandatory — for example offshore decks, engine bays and fire-safety-critical zones. Identified by its natural silver finish.
For the cover plate, weld plate and bolt, Bu-Lok offers mild steel with zinc trivalent (A3C) coating for standard environments and Stainless Steel 304 or 316 for marine, offshore, chemical and washdown environments where corrosion resistance is non-negotiable.
What Are The Industries and Applications Of Bu-Lok Pipe Clamps?
Bu-Lok pipe clamps are trusted across heavy and precision industries because they solve the same core problem everywhere: keeping pressurised lines stable, quiet and fatigue-free.
- Hydraulic power packs and presses — controlling pulse and shock on high-pressure lines.
- Oil & gas, refineries and petrochemical plants — corrosion-resistant clamping for instrumentation and process tubing.
- Construction, earthmoving and mobile machinery — vibration control on excavators, cranes and mining equipment.
- Steel plants, power generation and cement — heavy-series support for large-bore piping.
- Marine, shipbuilding and offshore — stainless and aluminium clamps for salt-air durability and fire safety.
- CNG, gas distribution and chemical dosing — secure, leak-resistant routing of small-bore tubes.
- Machine tools, automation and panel building — tidy, rail-mounted clamping of hydraulic and pneumatic lines.
How to Choose the Right Pipe Clamp?
Selecting a pipe clamp comes down to matching five factors to your application. Bu-Lok’s engineering team can help confirm each one.
- Pipe outer diameter (OD): Measure the tube OD, not the bore. The clamp is sized to the OD in mm or inches. A clamp that is even slightly oversized will let the pipe vibrate.
- Working pressure and vibration level: Low-to-medium pressure routing uses the light series; high-pressure or high-shock systems need the heavy series.
- Operating environment: Choose the body and hardware material for temperature, chemical exposure, fire risk and corrosion. Marine and offshore call for stainless 316; general indoor use is fine with zinc-coated steel.
- Layout and spacing: Decide single, twin or stacked configuration, and how many clamp positions you need along the run. Correct clamp spacing prevents sag and resonance.
- Mounting method: Weld plate, bolt-on plate or rail-mounted — choose based on whether the structure can be drilled, welded or needs a weld-free rail system.
Rule of thumb: When in doubt, match the clamp series and material to the imported clamp you are replacing. Because Bu-Lok clamps are DIN 3015 equivalents to STAUFF, Parker and Swagelok, the cross-reference is direct.
